Research  |  Strategy  |  Wireframing & Prototyping  |  Visual Design  |  Validation

Overview

Due to the transitory lifestyles and reliance on electronic devices of the college-aged prospects of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), it had become harder than ever to turn prospects into students using only a print catalog. After initial research into this market segment, the idea for the NOLS iPad Catalog App was born. On this project I acted as Lead UX Designer, Art Director, and Project Manager – conducting the research, determining strategy, creating wireframes and prototypes, and establishing the visual design. This is the fourth iPad app I've conceptualized, designed, and released to highlight the NOLS Course Catalog. After each app, I conducted usability testing to refine and improve the design and features.

Outcome

This app launched in September 2014 and had more than 500 downloads from prospects in eight countries. After the launch, there was a correlation with enrollment going up 2% for spring 2015 and 5% for summer 2015 courses.
